Ready to stop mixing muddy browns and start creating colours that match your vision?

If you're a beginner artist (or even a more experienced one who never quite "got" colour theory), you might feel like everyone else knows some secret to colour mixing that you missed.

You’re trying to paint something vibrant, and it turns out grey.
You’re guessing your way through your palette.
You’re spending money on new tubes of paint, hoping one of them is finally the right shade.
You’re scared one wrong move will “ruin” your painting.

You’ve probably picked up a brush at some point…
but never felt fully confident with colour.

Maybe you've:

Watched tutorials that felt overwhelming or too fast
Bought all the colours, but still can't seem to mix what you want
Tried following the “rules”… but still feel like you’re winging it.

Confident with Colour is a beginner-friendly course that helps you build a strong, practical foundation in colour mixing so you can create colours that feel intentional, expressive, and uniquely you.

You'll learn the core principles behind how colour works, and how to apply them in real-life painting, using the paints you already have.

This isn't about memorising a bunch of theory. It's about:

- Slowing down enough to see colour more clearly
- Understanding what makes a mix feel vibrant, muted, warm, or cool
- Experimenting with intention (instead of guessing and hoping for the best)

Inclusions

Here’s what you’ll explore inside the course:

  • MODULE 1: Foundations of Colour Theory
Start from scratch (or fill in the gaps). You'll learn how the colour wheel works, what makes primaries primary, and how to unlock a huge range of colours from just a few paints.
  • MODULE 2: Understanding Warm and Cool Colours
Not sure why your purples turn brown or your greens look flat? This module breaks down warm vs cool pigments and how they interact, so you can mix with more clarity and less mud.
  • MODULE 3: Bringing Colour to Life: Saturation, Shade & Value
Learn how to shift your colours with purpose, from soft pastels to rich jewel tones, by understanding how to tweak brightness, lightness, and darkness.
  • MODULE 4: Pigments, Transparency & Creating Harmony
We go deeper into how paints behave. You’ll learn what affects transparency, what to watch out for with different pigment types, and how to create cohesive, harmonious palettes that feel like “you.”
  • MODULE 5: Bringing it All Together
Time to apply what you’ve learned. You’ll follow painting prompts designed to help you connect the dots, use your colour charts, and trust yourself in the studio.
  • Plus:
Downloadable swatch templates and mixing trackers
My go-to paint list for versatile, affordable mixing
Real-time video demos so you can follow along at your own pace

$You can get full access to Confident with Colour including all 5 modules, templates, and real-time demos for a single payment of $79 USD.

You don’t need every paint under the sun. You just need to know how to use the ones you have.

STUDENTS SAY

"Before the course, I was nervous and would tend to purchase colours rather than mix to make the colours I wanted. Now that I’ve finished the course, I feel so much happier and more confident and curious.”

- Kate Manenti, @sunshineonarainydayart

"I wanted to improve my art practice. After the course, I feel more confident, more knowledgeable. I've thoroughly enjoyed Yani's excellent course! Plenty of lightbulb moments about colour mixing and creating custom colours. Highly recommend."

- Louise Keats

"I wanted to learn about colour so I could use different shades. I now feel more confident as I learnt about the three primay colours to build a huge palette! Saturation & Values!"

- Katherine Lee

Meet Your Art Teacher

I’m Yani (pronounced Shani)

oil painter and colour lover based in regional Australia (though I’ve dabbled in acrylics, watercolours, and pastels too… my brain doesn’t like to stick to one thing for long).

I know what it feels like to struggle with colour mixing. For years, I wasted paint and paper trying to make colours that never quite matched what I had in my head.

Everything changed when I started paying closer attention to how colour works, and gave myself permission to slow down, experiment, and learn it in a way that felt natural.

Since then, my art practice has grown rapidly. I was selected as a Jumbled Art Superstar finalist, featured in Vanity Fair, and now exhibit my work in galleries around Australia and beyond.

But more importantly? I enjoy the process of mixing colour now, and I want to help you do the same.

You don’t have to keep second-guessing every colour you mix.

One of the biggest things I see artists and creatives
struggle with,
and which is the biggest culprit to not moving ahead
in mastering our colours,
is this thing I call “faux action”.
What I’m talking about is: looking everywhere for information,
endless googling and trying to copy what others do and just not moving the needle
in the quickest direction to understanding colour.

I mean, I see you...I’ve done it myself!
There’s so much information at our fingertips that it’s just so easy to do a quick google search.
The problem with this is that we’re getting bits and pieces and, until those pieces are put together in a sequential
and structured way that ties it all in together,
it will be hard to absorb the concepts that make understanding colour mixing so simple.

Whether you're dreaming of lush landscapes, vibrant abstracts, or soft portraits...

it all starts with understanding your palette.
Let’s make mixing colours feel exciting, not intimidating.
